If everything that the husband had done so far wasn't enough he was about to cross a line with the oldest daughter next. That relationship would be the next to come to an end.
The husband had concocted a new plan. He would get money from his oldest granddaughter. One of the same granddaughter's that had caught him on a date only a month after her grandmother passed away. He called her and told her he was outside and that she needed to come outside quickly. He said he had something important to talk to her about.
He told his granddaughter she needed to sign the insurance paper he had and that her grandmother would want her to. He actually used his dead wife to trick his granddaughter into signing something he said she didn’t need to read. She willingly signed because she did not know him as the daughters did. She naively still trusted him. She never questioned her grandfather's actions.
It was later found out through multiple calls to his insurance adjuster and company supervisors that the paper he asked the granddaughter to sign had been fraudulent and they had declined his request. You can't legally try to change ownership or increase the death pay out of an insurance policy when the owner is no longer living and that was exactly what he'd tried to do.
It didn't make any sense to anyone why a person would increase the life insurance death pay out for a very healthy young person. Why would he go behind his granddaughter's mother's back and have her secretly sign a paper as important as that? Why now try and get more money for the death of his granddaughter? What was this man's purpose? It felt as if he was trying to raise the price of his granddaughters life. It confused everyone once they found out what was going on because the granddaughter was 22. He had to know that he was going to pass away before she did so what was the point in trying to get more money for her death when he wouldn't be around to collect it.
If the fact that the husband didn't seem to think he'd done anything wrong and his ‘poor me’ and ‘why is everyone against me’ acting hadn't been enough, the last conversation the oldest daughter had with him had sealed the deal for her. She would no longer have a relationship with that man any longer. He made sure of that with the vile words he spewed in private all while hiding behind the Lord in public.
The oldest daughter called the husband one morning to see how he was doing, it had been a while since she’d spoken to him. He’d left a sour taste in her mouth the last time he’d gone over to her house and wouldn’t stop talking about his “friend” and how his “friend” did this for him and his “friend” had made him dinner. The way he kept talking about his “friend” made the daughter uncomfortable. In her mind the way he was talking sounded like the friend could be a woman and the fact that her mother had only passed away 4 months prior seemed a bit too soon. (Remember at this time they didn't know about the husband's new girlfriend.) After those comments the daughter excused herself from her own living room and went to her kitchen. She couldn’t take hearing him go on and on about someone she thought to be another woman.
After she asked how he was doing and him putting her on hold because he was teaching someone to drive, he brought up the subject of the sell of her grandfather's house. He asked if she'd talked to her grandmother and knew the sell was going through. She let him know that she was aware. He quickly added that he didn't know how they wanted to handle things, but they needed to all cash their checks and give him his part for being married to their mom. He wanted 1,000.00 from each of the kids for the sell of his wife's father's house. He said it was unfair that he was being left out and it was what their mom wanted.
The daughter rolled her eyes on her side of the phone. Of course he already brought up the topic of money. Of course the man who had more money than all the kids put together was trying to take what little blessing they were getting from them. It really was disgusting how much he let money rule his world. There was no way that that man was going to get anything more from them.
She let him know that right now she needed the money and had no plans on giving him anything. He told her they all needed to be fair.
Fair? Like he'd been fair with their mother's belongings? The man was such a hypocrite and the fact that he either didn't see it or he didn't care was unbelievable.
Since the husband had no shame in asking her for money that she hadn't even gotten yet the daughter brought up the topic of her mother and asked why he hadn't given her and her brother and sister anything of their moms to which the husband told her that they couldn't have everything they wanted. The tone in his voice was one of annoyance. With the way he decided to answer the question the conversation between the daughter and husband quickly turned heated. He never wanted to hear what anyone said especially when it was negative about him.
She in return raised her voice and reminded him that they hadn't gotten anything. He had no response for that. He knew what she was saying was the truth. He didn't care they were her children he wasn't going to part with anything even for his wife's children.
The only thing the husband could come up with was that he didn't like how they treated their mother while she was in the hospital. He brought up the day the brother and sisters had decided to see if their mother needed alone time to pass in peace. He said that day when he showed up and she was all alone he knew then that they were done, that they had discarded their mother and tossed her aside like she was nothing. Never once mentioning that that was what the hospice nurse suggested.
How dare that man say such hurtful disgusting things to her? They were the ones that were there for their mom every single day, all he'd done was sleep there. If anyone had thrown their mom away as if she were nothing it was him. He was the one that left the hospital to do god knows what with god knows who. He was the one that was on dates with strange women 27 days after putting their mom in the ground. How could he live with himself? How could he think treating their mom that way was okay? Didn't he know that his wife was seeing everything he was doing now, everything he was putting her children through? This disgusting man hid behind the lord to make himself feel better and justify his heinous actions. He expected everyone to fall for his act because they believed him to be a man of god. Sad thing was it worked on a few people. He'd managed to get some to believe he was a victim who was wrongfully being portrayed unjustly.
The daughter returned by telling him that he was the one who treated their mother horribly by always disappearing while she was in the hospital. He quickly tried to shut her down and said she was lying that it never happened. She told him everyone who visited her mom noticed and mentioned it on numerous occasions. He let out a chuckle and again said it never happened. He basically called everyone a liar at this point.
The delusional man didn't want to hear himself painted in any negative way so he shut down that topic with the everyone is lying comment. He was done talking about it so that was it. Knowing that there was nothing left to lose the daughter continued to tell him about how he’d taken them off the mother's life insurance policy right before she died to which he again claimed that was a lie, that the other daughter was a liar. To him everyone but himself was a liar. The way the man spoke about her younger sister was menacing. She really began worrying about he was capable of since he blamed her for everything that had gone wrong in his life.
The conversation quickly turned into one about money which it usually did when the husband was involved. Money was all he ever cared about. The amount of money that was left in the safety deposit box was brought up and he again said that was a lie, that their mother lied about the safety deposit box and everything in it. He basically called his recently deceased wife a liar too. He didn't care that the youngest daughter knew all about the money as well and knew it wasn't a lie. He continued saying that there wasn't any money in the box to which the daughter replied that of course not any more that he’d already emptied it out. She told him she knew he wasn’t going to take any chances leaving the money in there since they put her sister's name on the box. He returned with that was not true and that the only reason he put the other daughters name on the box was because the other daughter was spoiled and she always needed to feel like she was the favorite child. He was now making no sense. He was just spewing garbage, saying anything he could to put down the youngest daughter. He'd made it clear she was not his favorite person at the moment.
He went on to say that all the money that was left was his money. That there was no money of their mother's left. He said that the mother's money was what was used to pay all the bills and everything that they saved was from him. He was seriously bragging about living off his wife and all her earnings. Who does that? Who brags about making the wife pay for everything while he padded his bank account? I’ll tell you who, a money hungry jerk who cared only about himself and wanted to make sure no matter what he would be taken care of.
Not only did this man have the $68,000.00 from the safety deposit box he also had the thousands he had been taking out of his wife’s bank account little by little before it was split evenly, his part of the money the mother wanted them all to split, and the 8,000 dollars that was left from her life insurance policy (the same policy the oldest daughter was taken off as primary beneficiary months prior to her mother's death) that he said he was going to spend on a headstone for the wife’s burial site. Eight months later the wife still didn’t have her headstone.
The husband said he would spend every single penny of the money left from her insurance policy to make sure his wife had the best headstone and yet nothing was done. He’d begun asking for money from her family members to help pay for it even though $8,000 was “set aside” for it. So his plan was to have her family under the impression that there was no money, purchase the stone. All the while the money was actually there, the greedy husband just wanted to get everyone else to pay for it so he could keep the $8,000.00 for himself. No one would have even known what he was trying to do had one of their mom's family members not called and told the youngest daughter about a conversation they recently had with the husband.
There was nothing left to say. The hurtful ugly words that kept coming out of his mouth were too much for the daughter so she simply hung up on him. Enough was enough. Hopefully that would be the last time she ever had to talk to him. No way was she going to give him another chance to hurt her. That awful man was now out of her life for good. It may have taken her a little longer to come to the same conclusion as her younger sister about this man, but her journey led them to the same outcome.
